I am an engineer turned Data Scientist with 6+ years of work experience in Finance, Risk Mitigation & Infrastructure industries. Formerly, I built buildings that connected people. Now I have traded in my hard hat for a keyboard and transitioned into the thrill of connecting hidden dots within data and embarked on a new adventure as a Data Scientist and Machine Learning enthusiast.

  1. Lead Data Science Analyst, Discover Financial Services (DFS)

     October, 2022 — Present
    • Lead a squad of 6 comprising of Business Analysts (BA), Business Technology (BT) & Quality Control (QC) driving incident resolution in the Discover Student Loans (DSL) remediation program.
    • Ensured compliance with 2015 and 2020 Consent Orders by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and restituted over $1M to impacted DSL customers.
    • Developed complex queries dealing with 10+ large-scale Snowflake schemas consisting of 10M+ rows each on an average for identifying harmed DSL customers and calculating redress amounts.
    • Built and maintained interactive Tableau dashboards to monitor redress amounts, notification letters, and handle exceptions resulting in a 90% workload reduction for the front-office agents.
    • Collaborated with stakeholders from Tax, Law, & Compliance teams, resulting in SLA time dropping by 50% from 300 to 150 days.

  2. Data Scientist - Capstone Project, Amazon Ads

    June, 2022 — September, 2022
    • Tackled a product cold-start problem to build an ASIN level peer recommender system using product metadata, and image data on Amazon Berkley Object (ABO) dataset for Amazon Ads.
    • Built an ensemble model using an NLP based model using cosine similarity & an Image based model using ResNet-18 CNN architecture. This enabled identification of similar products across categories, facilitating brand performance tracking.
    • Designed a web application in Streamlit- a python-based tool to showcase the top 10 recommendations based on a given ASIN.
    • This pipeline has been scheduled for A/B testing for performance evaluation and feature enhancement.

    • Utilized data analysis and market research to spearhead business development initiatives resulting in a 300% increase in profits.
    • Built a Linear Regression model using historical project pricing data to optimize design fee recommendations. This data-driven approach led to a 70% increase in tender conversion rates, improving profitability and competitiveness.
    • Wrote 20+ scripts and built automations in Excel VBA to optimize engineering design process reducing man hours by 15% & reducing material costs by 43%.
